Meet some of our employees - Simon

Name: Simon
Job: Head of Public Relations
Years with Center Parcs: 22

Why did you join Center Parcs?
Living locally, I was very aware of Center Parcs - it had a great reputation, both for short breaks and as an employer. At my interview I was blown away by the scale of things, and really wanted to work for them.

What was your first role?
Assistant Reception Manager at Sherwood Forest Village, handling customer service, dealing with guests' arrivals and departures, and managing a small team.

And what do you do now?
I was interested in marketing, and started looking for a role at Head Office. They asked me to cover for a press officer who was on maternity leave - I didn't have experience, but I had good company knowledge and people skills and they spotted my potential. From there, I progressed to PR Manager.

Why have you stayed so long?
There's always something new - Center Parcs never stands still, and it makes me want to come to work.

What inspires you when you're not 'in the forest'?
I've got a young son who keeps me busy. And I like my sports - I'd spend all day on the golf course if I could.
